One of the easiest ways to achieve the KISS rock band look is to buy a ready made costume. After all, trying to find the famous KISS boots alone could take forever! These ready to wear costumes can be found at the following online costume stores:

KISS Halloween Makeup

No KISS costume would be complete without the requisite makeup. The band characters, in case you didn’t already know, are as follows:

If you don’t have a knack for putting on stage makeup or have a friend to help you, it may be easier to just buy one of the KISS licensed plastic masks. However, if you have the time and inclination, the actual makeup will help your costume look authentic. Be prepared to spend at least an hour applying the makeup, as the designs can be tricky (especially The Demon).

The easiest way to do the makeup for this costume is to find photos or likenesses of the makeup designs first. Once you have found your favorite likeness, make a copy of the picture so you can refer to it as you make the design on your face.

Next, you'll need to buy theatre face makeup at your local retail store or costume shop. Stage makeup will last much longer than makeup designed for every day wear. Be sure to purchase makeup remover as well; stage makeup is often hard to remove.

When you’re ready to apply the makeup, have your picture close at hand. Put your costume on first so you won’t smudge the makeup later, and make sure your face is clean and dry. To begin, make the design on your face first with an eyeliner pencil. Then apply the white makeup with a makeup brush to your face. Fill in the outlined design in silver, black or both, depending on the look you are going for. Finish by going over the outline of the design once more with the liner, making the edges stand out. Add black or red lipstick to complete the look.
