More recently, the three stars of the Harry Potter books have become a popular costume for a group of three. Dressing as Harry, Ron and Hermione is very simple, you can rent the robes and Gryffindor scarves at an affordable cost, and wands often come included with the package.

Famous Comic Threesomes

While The Three Stooges are more famous, and you can easily buy masks for Moe, Larry and Curly, the three Marx Brothers make for a more detailed group costume and are funnier overall. Groucho Marx is well known because of his distinctive glasses, which can be bought at any Halloween supply shop. The rest of the costume only requires a suit with a ratty tailcoat and a cigar. Harpo Marx is also distinctive. He wears a curly pink wig, top hat and giant rain coat. He often carries a bike horn. Chico wears a battered suit and a felt hat. Not only are there a lot of pictures to help you devise a costume, many of the better shops will have individual pieces available for rent.

The Three Musketeers

One of the most elaborate of Halloween costume for groups of three is also one of the most famous. These fabled swordsmen have been the subjects of films, plays and comic books and have shown up in a variety of guises. Unless someone is really good at sewing or has access to a costume collection, this is an intricate costume that you’ll have to rent. The good news is, although this group is often depicted as wearing the same outfit, you don’t have to dress them exactly alike. As long as you have the distinctive feathered hats, the capes, and of course the swords, everyone’s costume can be a bit different. There will still be no doubt as to whom you are meant to be.
