• Elizabeth in the Far East, a costume available for children and adults, features a red kimono top with a self-sticking closure at the neck a sash at the waist. An attached vest has gold brocade trim and tassels. The elastic-waist pants are blue and you can buy a light-green crown and flat shoes separately.

To pull together a simple but effective pirate costume, you can raid your local thrift shop or a man’s closet. A blousey white top, preferably with ruffles, a long vest, a thick belt with a buckle, loose dark trousers and knee-high boots are easily found. You can buy a basic tricorner hat and sword in any costume shop. Add whatever details you like and avast ye hearty!
