Creative Group Halloween Costumes
From LoveToKnow Costumes
Halloween is supposed to be fun and exciting and even a little bit scary but the same old costumes just do not seem to have the same oomph or pizzazz as they once did, coming up with creative group halloween costumes is a lot more challenging, but in the end – a lot more fun.
Group Halloween Fun
Scaring up a good time is what going out for Halloween is all about! Group costuming is a recipe for a winning evening.
Consider the Group as a Whole
The group of people you have with you is not about one person. When you are deciding on ideas you should do so as a group. Let the talks be open and allow each person to voice their own opinion, their likes and dislikes, sort of like a counseling session for ghouls. Once the ideas are narrowed down to several that each person can agree are cool enough to warrant this effort, take a vote! Democracy rules. Whichever idea gets the most votes wins.
Be an Individual
Creative group halloween costumes don't have to be one-sided. Each person can remain in the theme or part of the theme while still maintaining their individuality. Allow your group members to add their own spin on the costume theme. Let them create their own character and their personality. This will ensure that each person in the group has a great time even if they weren't sold on the idea in the first place.
Routines
Large groups are generally expected to DO something. You can't expect to dress up like Zombies, walk the streets and NOT do the dance from Michael Jacksons Thriller on your way. Granted, it's not very creative these days, but it's still an old favorite and popular standby. You may even be hard pressed to find someone who doesn't love it or doesn't want to join in. Any type of routine, gimmick or schtick will do. You can sing, dance or act to move your theme ahead.
In the end it all just depends on the theme you have, the amount of people in your group and the time you have to pull it all together. If you took the effort to dress in theme, you might as well take the time to perform for the masses.
Several Creative Group Halloween Costumes
Here are a few ideas:
Zombies: The walking undead are easy targets on Halloween and are easy to put together with some old clothes, a bit of makeup and if you're feeling adventurous, try out some latex appliances.
If you have some in your group that fancies themselves a Romero in the making or the next Tom Savini then perhaps some special effects could be thrown in the mix and one place that could help you out is 100% free and is called Indy Mogul. It is a tremendous website dedicated to doing special effects on the cheap and all of the plans and instructions are done over streaming video and you don’t have to pay a dime for it.
Corporate zombies: The world of business exists when you’re dead so why not show your dedication to the 401k by having your group dress in suits then get zombified?
Oops, I’m Dead Aagin: All men, all women – a mixture. Nothing spells funny like a group of zombies dressed as Britney Spears – except a group of zombies dressed as Britney Spears who dance and sing Oops, I did it Again at random moments.
Zombie walk: Popular at horror conventions all over the world, you assemble a group of people, dress them up as zombies, then head over to the mall for a good time.
Zombies are easy and fun to do, especially for groups. A chorus of Thriller can always break out. Pretty much anything you see around you can be zombified and all you need to do is to disect it and create something unique from it.
Now how about a few outside the box ideas?
Condiments: Who doesn’t love a good condiment? Pickle relish, catsup, mustard – mayo? All good stuff. Older people (and those who like older movies) will remember the snack bar jingles from the old drive-in movies and theater run ones: Let’s all go to the lobby and get yourself a treat and so on. Have you group dress up as condiments – add a hot dog or pretzel if you like, and break out in one of those jingles that you can find on the Internet.
Gnawing for a good time: This one is a little – wrong – but funny. Have some of your friends dress up as dogs. Choose someone from the group to dress like Michael Vick. The rest writes itself as the “dogs” exact their revenge.
Accountants on vacation: Simple, easy and still fun as we all think that accountants never go on a vacation or have fun. You and your friends dress in suits but only partially. Wear leis and coconut bras – straw hats and skirts, flip flops and sandals too. Carry a limbo pole with you so you can get down periodically. This gag can apply to “Death” too and then creates a movie theme: Death Takes a Holiday (the original before Pitt’s Meet Joe Black).
Creative group halloween costumes are all about fun and comraderie. Getting attention from onlookers who appreciate a good sight gag or the effort you put in is always a great perk, but having fun with your friends is simply just priceless.
