Costume Stores
From LoveToKnow Costumes
Whether you've got a few days or a few months to pull together a costume for Halloween or any other costume-worthy occasion, costume stores can be your best friend. Read on for tips to make costume stores work for you.
Inspiration
A lot of clueless people walk into costume stores. Clueless individuals that are Halloween party-bound come into these establishments and wander around looking for inspiration. Do they want to be something good or evil? Provocative or innocent? Some have no idea and then end up finding the perfect costume just by perusing the store.
Still can't find what you want? Consider asking one of the employees you find at the costume stores. They are used to your type -- wanting the greatest and most original costume, but having no idea what that may be. Work with them and you are sure to find the get up that is perfect for you!
Organized for Effectiveness
Costume stores around Halloween are super organized and designed to meet all of your needs. You will usually find the costumes divided into sections ranging from generic witch and devil gear, all the way to odd and unique costumes such as a ketchup and mustard bottle duo. This organization helps to get people in and out quickly, and will also encourage them to spend more money. If you are planning on being an angel, for example, you come in looking for a halo and wings. But what about a plastic harp? Or glittery eye makeup? The layout of the store presents you with more options than you had previously thought of, and in turn you spend more money on your costume. And the costume stores leave in November a wealthy and happy haunt.
Costume Stores Growing in Number
Around Halloween, you also see a lot more costume stores cropping up. They seem to be practically on every major street corner and you would be hard pressed to overlook them. These stores are great for anyone who has emergency costume needs, but be warned that this time of year, they are CROWDED, no matter how many of them there are! So consider going at an off-peak time like the middle of the day or right before closing time.
Rent Instead of Buy?
Remember that most cities have a quality, year round costume shop that rents costumes as well as allowing you to purchase them. You have the potential to save some money, and also can get something more unique and high quality than that of your friends. These stores are great and are often overlooked during the hustle and bustle of Halloween. Consider them in the off-season as well when you have a masquerade ball, a theatre production, or any other event that causes you to need to dress different from your usual self!
